Karla R. Ver Meer MS LPC
After years as a layperson caring for the deep needs of individuals, Karla Ver Meer made the transition
from a home-schooling, piano-teaching mom and farmer’s wife to a mental health professional. She earned her Master of Science (MS) degree in clinical psychology and has been licensed by the States of Colorado, Alabama and Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Karla completed an internship and was later employed at Penrose-St. Francis Behavioral Health’s inpatient psychiatric hospital, as well as with the Colorado Sex Offender Treatment Program. She presently manages Sessions, her private practice where she specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, anger issues, and personality disorders.
Karla founded and directed the Soul Safety community, a successful network of support and recovery groups that functioned within a local church setting.
Known as a visionary with zeal and integrity, she lives her life with strength, optimism, and compassion.
Karla and her husband, Jim, have 4 adult children and 3 granddaughters. They reside in Jacksons Gap, AL, where Karla still loves to be barefoot in jeans, a sweatshirt, and black dirt — or now, the lake!
